Kurogi-goshō (Kurogi Imperial Residence Site)・Hekifū-kan Museum [Nishinoshimacho]

A new history of Japan starts from this place

On the top of a small hill overlooking Beppu Bay called Mt. Tennō is Kurogi Imperial Palace, the remnants of the palace built when Emperor Godaigo was exiled to Oki. At the entrance there is an exhibit of items related to the emperor, called "Hekifūkan", which lets you relive the year the emperor spent on the island until his escape as well as understand the tension at the time of his escape.
