Saigō-misaki Cape [Okinoshimacho]
Views of the port protected by the gods
Located on the south side of Saigō Bay, the observatory offers views spanning from Saigō Bay to Mr. Daimanji. The lighthouse, built on the remains of a crater, was completed in 1921 using the first lens issued in Japan, and ensures maritime safety even today. This is a well-known spot for watching boats coming in and out of the bay as well as seeing sunrise, sunset, and the lights of squid fishing boats, called isaribi.
