Yana-no-Matsubara・Funagoya Traditional Boathouses [Okinoshimacho]

A landscape seen only at the Sea of Japan

Across from where 20 little boathouses are neatly lined up, you can see Mt. Takada, once the location of the Mountain Faith, which has been selected as a "top 100 historical fisheries/ fishing villages we want to leave for the future." Nearby is Yana no Matsuhara, chosen as one of the top 100 places for white sand and green pine in Japan. Singer-songwriter Takuro Yoshida has sung of the scenery of boathouses and the meter-long squids coming ashore from fall to winter.
