Basalt, Uzuki Coast [Okinoshimacho]
Purple flowers tucked on top of lava stone
You can observe the newest lava stones in Oki, formed 400,000 years ago. On a large part of the coast you can see how lava flowed and hardened into round blocks that appear to be stacked, and columnar joints can be seen in to flowing lava cooling and solidifying, rising into a shrine. Near the coast, you can see subalpine white horse chives.
